It's been a whirlwind month at Team Monica In the face of generational challenges to our rights and quality of life, Vice Chair Monica Montgomery Steppe has been fighting for our communities through all the choas. She’s building economic opportunity, safe and healthy communities, tackling housing and homelessness, and reimagining public safety. FIGHTING FOR REFORM At the County The Board approved Monica’s plan to increase access to healthcare and fresh food by making Behavioral Health Services a separate departmet. Monica introduced a measure to expand civilian law enforcement oversight authority to include oversight of healthcare workers in county jails The Board passed Monica’s resolution to ban the use of pepper spray in juvenile detention centers, reducing youth trauma, and bringing San Diego in line with 2/3rds of states.
