John, did you get our message on Saturday? Throughout this whole shutdown spectacle, Trump has done what Trump does: try to strong-arm with threats to achieve nonsensible goals that hurt the general public.
More and more Republicans are getting sick of it, preferring to actually work with Democrats on getting the job done, but their leader continues to interfere. We’re not surprised.
As we reminded our supporters recently, in late April of this year, Trump said he would support a ban on congressional stock trading, going so far as to say he would “absolutely” sign one into law if Congress were to pass it. Less than 100 days later, Trump changed his mind because new (bipartisan!) proposals included provisions that would prevent the President and the Vice President from stock trading, too.
Corruption for me, but not for thee!
Right now, negotiations about banning congressional stock trading are on pause. They won’t be forever, though, and we need to have the resources to apply pressure, hard, as soon as we have the opportunity.
