Hi John,
The campaign against the gun confiscation fight ramped up before we could even let you know how we’re fighting back. I hope that’s OK.
Here’s what’s happening.
The federal government just launched a gun confiscation pilot program in Cape Breton, but Ottawa also extended the amnesty period “until October 2026,” according to the National Post.
Here’s the bottom line: Prime Minister Mark Carney is pushing ahead with the gun confiscation, but gun owners don’t have to comply for at least another year.
You know the gun confiscation would cost billions, but law enforcement experts say it won’t make Canada safer. That’s a waste of money.
So your team at the Canadian Taxpayers Federation jumped into action. Your directors pushed back hard through the media. Franco Terrazzano even interviewed a top law enforcement expert (watch for that on YouTube soon).
Your team is going above and beyond in Cape Breton. Knowledge is power. And you need to make sure licensed gun owners there know how to push back against the pilot program.
Here’s what YOUR team is already doing in Cape Breton:
* The CTF has a law firm on retainer in Cape Breton to make sure licenced gun owners know about the amnesty extension.
* A billboard is going up to send the message that the gun confiscation is a waste of money and the amnesty is being extended.
* A big social media campaign is hammering out that message on Facebook and other platforms.
* Devin Drover, our Atlantic Director and General Counsel, is personally on his way to Cape Breton NOW.
I hope this is all OK, because we usually do things the other way around.
We truly value every dollar from donors like you and that’s why we usually ask you before we launch a campaign. But this time, I thought you would want us to take action first and ask questions later.
The Cape Breton campaign is ramping up right now, but the ballpark budget is about $10,000 for the lawyers, billboards, social media campaign and everything else.
If you believe we need to fight the gun confiscation in Cape Breton and right across Canada, you can join the fight TODAY because it’s already heating up fast.

I’m going hunting with my kids this fall and safety is more important than anything. But taking guns from licensed gun owners won’t make things safer. Let’s win this fight together.
Thanks for standing up for taxpayers.
Have a good one,
