⚖️ California Legislative Session Ends with Significant Wins Despite a Tough Cycle

The California Legislature adjourned on September 13, sending bills to Governor Newsom for consideration. Despite an unusual legislative cycle with many policy bills attached to the state budget process and an overall budget that slashed significant funding for housing priorities, NPH and our members and partners enjoyed some important victories.

🏗️ Project Spotlight: Lightfighter Village Grand Opening

 

EAH Housing invites you to celebrate the Grand Opening of Lightfighter Village, their newest affordable housing community in Marina, on Friday, November 7 from 1-3PM!

Located on the former Fort Ord Base, Lightfighter Village includes 71 affordable homes for individuals and families, paired with wraparound services that promote stability, connection, and well-being.

 

📝 Closing Soon: Request for Information for Apple Affordable Housing Fund

The deadline is approaching to request information for the Apple Affordable Housing Fund. This Fund intends to make loans to qualified developers to help accelerate affordable housing in the greater Bay Area. Housing Trust Silicon Valley, which has a long history of successful public-private partnerships and deployment of innovative financing for nonprofit developers, will implement the Apple Affordable Housing Fund by making loans to qualified developers to help accelerate affordable housing construction across the Bay Area.

RFI Submission Deadline: Friday, October 10, 2025 by 5PM PT

 

🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Diana Downton

 

The NPH Board continues to play a vital role in helping move our collective work forward and deserves a moment in the spotlight! Join us in celebrating Diana Downton, Senior Affordable Housing Finance Consultant at Community Economics Inc., and NPH Board Member!

Diana joined Community Economics Inc. in 2014, bringing with her 14 years of previous experience in affordable housing development, advocacy, and local government housing finance. Prior to joining CEI, she worked for the City of Oakland’s Housing and Community Development Department, serving as the lead staff for the City’s affordable housing development Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) process, and providing financing for a wide variety of affordable housing rental and ownership projects, including new construction and rehabilitation of family, senior, and special needs housing.

Diana joined the NPH Board in 2023 and is a valued member of the Board. Thank you for your work as an NPH Board Member!
