Today, Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress shut the government down, and it’s working families who will feel the impact first.

Earlier this year, Trump and his allies passed a funding bill that will raise costs and cut critical programs, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, for millions of Americans.

Democrats fought hard to reverse these cuts and protect the healthcare and support people rely on, but Trump refused to listen. Instead, Trump chose to let the government shut down — a move that is both irresponsible and dangerous, especially at a time when so many families are struggling to make ends meet.

Time and time again, Trump and his allies put politics ahead of people. Thousands of government workers could lose their paychecks. Some federal services will stop operating. Seniors, children, and families who depend on health care and other essential programs are at risk.

As Maryland’s Attorney General, I’m standing up for our rights every step of the way. I’ll fight to make sure our communities don’t pay the price for this shutdown and to hold those responsible accountable.

Thank you,

Anthony Brown
