Donald Trump is federalizing the Oregon National Guard, meaning hundreds of our friends and neighbors will be called away from their jobs and their families to take part in an unclear and illegal mission with no clear objective. And now, with the federal government shut down, they won’t even be getting paid. 

This is not a functioning democracy. This is Donald Trump trying to score political points by demonizing our communities. This is failed Republican leadership, plain and simple.
