This fall marks the start of a new season of youth programming alongside the launch of expanded adult offerings through our partners.
From classrooms to career pathways, these programs open more opportunities for learning, growth and connection in New York City and beyond. We’re also proud to celebrate Oyate Group’s five-year anniversary this year—a milestone made possible by our community of supporters like you.
** Rise Leadership

This year, Oyate Group started a new laptop scholarship for college-bound Rise Leadership seniors. This year’s laptop recipients are Kevin R., on his way to Villanova, Dalexa S., who will be attending Baruch College, Shania M., heading to City College and Angelina M., who will be attending Rutgers University. We know that being successful in school requires so many resources, and we hope that these laptops support their college journeys. We are so proud of them!
Our third group of Global Glimpsers set off to Panama, and we are especially proud of Aminata and Evely for finishing their Community Action Project working with the Save the Turtles Organization in Playa Venao, Panama. They helped prepare the turtle nests so that once born, the sea turtles can make the journey to the ocean.

** Brandon Hendricks Scholarship
------------------------------------------------------------
Our scholarship program – established in honor of Brandon Hendricks, a young basketball star, scholar and member of our community whose life was taken by senseless gun violence –continues to grow and inspire. Each year, two outstanding students are selected to receive $5,000 per year, for up to four years, as long as they remain in school. We are thrilled to announce Rai-Elle Ingram and Deivyo Abreu as our third group of winners since the program was remodeled, who join a remarkable community of past recipients.
What makes this program even more meaningful is the way our students give back—supporting and mentoring the incoming freshman group and strengthening the sense of connection among recipients. This year, we were especially proud to host a screening of a documentary created by Richard Lloyd, one of our 2024 winners, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication that shines through our scholars.
** Global Rising

Oyate Group, together with Fundación Rica and Senator Alexis Victoria Yeb, Representing de Maria Trinidad Sanchez, launched the Oyate Global Rising Scholarship, awarding two full-ride scholarships to high school seniors from the Dominican Republic to attend The City College of New York for four years.

Understand workplace safety standards and obtain your OSHA certification.

Complete the required coursework to take the NY State Real Estate Salesperson licensing exam.

Oyate Group recently launched Nourish, a Tulum-inspired restaurant, café and specialty market that not only offers affordable, locally inspired meals but also serves as a workforce development hub.

Through hands-on training in cooking, customer service and restaurant operations, participants gain valuable skills for careers in the culinary and hospitality industries, while also benefiting from soft skills workshops and job placement support. The initiative further extends its impact through small business workshops, cooking and nutrition classes, and a social enterprise model where all profits are reinvested into Oyate Group’s community programs.
