While the government shuts down, President Trump is still expanding his military troop deployment plans. Take action.
ACLU Supporter, the government has shut down – and President Trump is still wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on sending National Guard troops and federal agents into our own streets. Tell Congress: No troops in our streets. <[link removed]>
Take Action <[link removed]>
Just this past weekend, the Trump administration federalized members of the Oregon National Guard, despite the governor's objections, and is deploying them to Portland alongside armed federal law enforcement agents. This is a continuation of similar abuses of power we've seen in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Memphis.
President Trump is willing to shut down the government – keeping federal workers from doing their jobs and disrupting services like loan approvals, FDA food safety activities, and more – yet he continues to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to intimidate and threaten our neighbors.
The D.C. deployment alone costs taxpayers roughly 1 million dollars per day – more than four times the price of operating affordable housing for every homeless person in the city.
These priorities couldn't be more backwards. The Trump administration must act to end these unnecessary, costly, and dangerous troop deployments and start putting people over politics.
If you're with us, let your representatives in Congress know that military troops have no place patrolling our streets. <[link removed]>
