News from Representative Bera

Dear John,

As of 12:01am ET this morning, the federal government has shut down.

I know this creates a lot of uncertainty for families, seniors, federal workers, small businesses, and military families across Sacramento County. That’s why I want to make sure you have the information and support you need to navigate this moment.

My offices in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. remain open and ready to help. If you’re experiencing issues with Social Security, Medicare, veterans’ benefits, the IRS, passports, or other federal services, please don’t hesitate to reach out

My team has created two resources to guide you through the shutdown:

➡️ Government Shutdown FAQ – Answers to common questions about how the shutdown may impact you and your family.
➡️ Shutdown Resources – A list of food, health, mental health, and dental services available throughout our community.

While I’m focused on helping you navigate this challenging time, I am also working to reopen the government as quickly as possible.

That means bringing both sides together to extend critical Affordable Care Act subsidies before they expire at the end of the year. If Congress fails to act, an estimated 28,000 people in our district could see their health care premiums skyrocket.

I’ll keep doing everything I can to reopen the government and protect access to affordable, quality health care for Sacramento County families.

If you haven’t already, follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, and Twitter/X to get my latest updates.

Be well,

Image

Despite the federal government shutdown, the 10th Annual Brain Health Forum will proceed as planned.

This year’s forum will give local residents the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in Alzheimer’s research and discover community resources available to support caregivers and those living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias.

The event will open with a community resource fair at 9:30 a.m., where representatives from local organizations will answer questions and share information. The main program will begin at 10:00 a.m.
