Dear John,

The 2020 Berkeley Tenants Union Convention is tomorrow, July 5, 2020, at 4 pm. There will be an election to present the pro-tenant candidates running for the Berkeley Rent Board this November. Historically, candidates who are endorsed by the Berkeley Tenants Union go on to win the general election. For 2020, we are proud to co-sponsor this event with renters and housing activists across Berkeley.

To participate in the political process, you will have to take two steps. First, register for the convention, which will be via on Zoom Video Communications. Second, request a ballot. You must have been living in the City of Berkeley since Tuesday, March 3, 2020. While we have not endorsed any candidates, several members of our organization are running for the Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board. These candidates include Immediate Past President Alfred Twu, past president Andy Kelley, Dohee Kim, Shane Krpata, Stefan Elgstrand, and Xavier Johnson.

Please complete this registration form to watch the convention live on Sunday.

Please fill out this form to request your convention ballot. Ballots will be emailed using OpaVote after the 2020 Berkeley Rent Board Convention at 6 pm on Sunday, July 5. Ballots must be submitted by Sunday, July 12, at 11:59 pm, using the unique code that will be emailed to each voter.

In solidarity,

Zac Goldstein, EBYD Vice President of Political Affairs
