![]() John, There are just a few hours left until the end of our Fall 2025 Drive to help save the bees. Bees are spiraling toward death as neonicotinoid pesticides poison entire hives. Last year, beekeepers reported one of the worst bee die-offs in history -- and this year could be even worse.1 Bees need our help now. We can't spare a moment. If you donate now, you can have twice the impact for the bees. Today only, generous donors will match gifts dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 nationwide. But the match is only available until midnight tonight. Will you double your impact for the bees and donate before midnight? Thank you, Ellen Montgomery
John, Neonicotinoid pesticides attack a bee's nervous system, causing uncontrolled shaking, paralysis and death.1 And with the simple click of the mouse, Amazon will deliver a shipment of these devastating chemicals -- tomorrow. It's time for Amazon to step up and do its part to save the bees -- because you can't same-day ship a new species. Starting right now, generous donors will match your gift today, up to $10,000 nationwide. Claim your match: Donate before midnight and you'll double your impact for the bees. The American bumblebee's population has fallen by nearly 90% over the past two decades.2 The rusty patched bumblebee has been added to the endangered species list.3 And this year, beekeepers reported losing up to 75% of their honeybee hives, the largest bee-die off ever recorded.4 What's killing these bees? One of the biggest culprits is the increased use of a deadly strain of pesticides called neonicotinoids. Other retailers have taken bee-killing pesticides off store shelves, but Amazon -- the largest online retailer in the world -- continues to sell pesticides that are 1,000 times more toxic to bees than DDT.5 Though bee populations are in freefall, we're still making tremendous progress to save the bees. More than one in four Americans now live in states that restrict the use of bee-killing pesticides, just like all of us in Colorado. While Amazon won't be able to sell neonics to us, the company is still selling bee-killing pesticides across the country. A growing number of retailers have taken action to reduce or eliminate the sale of bee-killing pesticides, from local garden stores to national retailers.6 We want Amazon to be the next to take action for the bees. With millions and millions of Amazon Prime members in the U.S. alone, Amazon can single-handedly make a big difference for the bees. But convincing Amazon to take action won't be easy. Matching donations are an incredible way to maximize your impact by doubling the power of your gift. With today's match, every dollar you give unlocks another dollar to help save the bees. If you give $5, we'll get $10. If you give $50, we'll get $100. Every donation we receive today can go even further to save the bees from deadly pesticides. Donate now. Thank you, Ellen Montgomery Your donation will be used to support all of our campaigns to protect the environment, from saving the bees and protecting public lands, to standing up for clean water and fighting climate change. None of our work would be possible without supporters like you. Environment Colorado may transfer up to $50 per dues-paying member per year into the Environment Colorado Small Donor Committee. |
