Earlier this month, Humanity United co-hosted the U.S.-Africa Futures Summit alongside the Ford Foundation, Global Futures Collaborative, Institute for Security Studies, and Open Society Foundations. Centered on the theme “From Aid to Agency,” the event brought together leaders at a pivotal moment for U.S. foreign aid to explore how communities can drive innovation, investment, and lasting change.

Peacebuilding is in crisis, with funding cuts forcing NGOs to close, eroding community trust, and fueling instability. On this year’s International Day of Peace, we called on global leaders and funders to support peacebuilders on the ground with the resources and solidarity they need. Each year, the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, honors individuals and organizations dedicated to social impact for their efforts in transforming the systems they work within. This year, our Director of Forced Labor and Human Trafficking, Mahendra Pandey, has been named a finalist for the Collective Social Innovation Award due to his work with the Global Migrant Workers Network (GMWN). Congratulations to Mahendra and the GMWN on this well deserved recognition!

Humanity United staff recently attended United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week in New York. We co-hosted a Roundtable to help us align with others through philanthropic learning, collaboration, and aligned action. HU staff also attended the Clinton Global Initiative with the goal of promoting collaboration to confront new and worsening challenges on climate, health, and the economy. Melanie Greenberg, Managing Director, Programs joined high-profile champions, including Hillary Clinton, Mary Robinson, Helen Clark, María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, and Pat Mitchell, at the launch for Women Transforming Global Security. HU staff spoke at the Future of Mental Health Collective and the World Economic Forum Sustainable Development Impact convening where they reflected on the work we do collectively.
