Rhode Island's health insurance costs are skyrocketing, with an alarming projected increase of up to 22% for next year. This crisis is not just a statistic; it's a threat to the health and financial security of thousands of our fellow citizens.

I am ready to vote for a budget that fixes the healthcare affordability crisis that Republicans have created and keeps the government running. But instead of working with us, Republicans have left Washington and are throwing the government into a shutdown. 

The Republicans, who control every branch of government, have chosen to shut down the government instead of passing a budget that includes much-needed funding for the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid. This decision, a clear display of partisan theatrics, is a direct blow to the American people. This shutdown is on them.

This is reckless and irresponsible.

Rest assured, I will stand firm against Republican chaos and fight to restore the health care funding that they have cut. This is the right fight at the right moment, and we must stand firm.
