John,
Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House.
But instead of working in good faith to prevent a shutdown, Speaker Mike Johnson sent the House home and Donald Trump refused to negotiate with Democrats until yesterday.
Why? Because Trump actually wants this shutdown.
His own budget director Russell Vought admitted the plan: they’re going to decimate federal workers. Not just scientists or park rangers — across the board. He even bragged his goal is to “traumatize” them (that’s the actual word he used).
That’s why we’re asking you to chip in $5 right now to help us fight back against Trump’s plan to devastate federal workers. [[link removed]]
STAND WITH FEDERAL WORKERS » [[link removed]]If the government shuts down at midnight, the EPA will be one of the hardest hit agencies:
* Only 1,260 staffers will keep working, while 15,500 are furloughed.
* Layoffs, not just temporary furloughs, are being threatened.
* Research, inspections, and enforcement would be halted.
Federal workers have already had a tough year — at the EPA alone, the Trump Administration is on track to cut 1 in 3 staffers by the end of this year.
This isn’t about budgets. It’s about cruelty. Trump is itching for this shutdown so he can execute his plan to shrink the government and fire anyone who doesn’t stand in line with his agenda.
Please chip in $5 now to stand with our federal workers and fight back. [[link removed]]
