John,
Fourth of July will look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate. Since public parades and fireworks displays are canceled this year, we expect to see more folks than usual putting on displays of their own.
Here are some tips to stay safe while using fireworks:
DO
✅Have a bucket of water or garden hose handy to douse used fireworks before throwing away
✅Back up a safe distance immediately after lighting a firework
✅Always have adult supervision around firework and sparkler activities
✅Make sure fireworks are legal in your area
DO NOT
❌Never allow young children to play with fireworks or sparklers
❌Never point a firework at yourself or another person
❌Never carry fireworks around in your pocket or shoot them off in metal or glass containers
❌Avoid fireworks packaged in brown paper — they are made for professional firework shows
❌ Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not fully ignited
Please be courteous of your neighbors and community as you celebrate.
Happy fourth!
