Election Results
After tallying the votes cast online and via mail-in ballot, we are proud to announce the officers of our chapter's Local Council for 2020-2021!

Co-chairs: Frances G. & Benjamin H.
Secretary: Lori D.
Treasurer: James P.
Membership Chair: Sean D.
At-large Members: Nadia E. & Andrew S.
Treasurer trustee: Alli D.

In the coming months, new stewards will be elected from their committees as well. The new Local Council has a lot of challenging work ahead of it, and will need support from members. Remember: this is a member organization that we all create together. Local Council meetings are open to all members if you wish to contribute.

Convention Part I Recap
Our first online Convention was a success even though it was bittersweet to not be in the same room with our comrades or to celebrate socially afterward.

Treasurer's Annual Report

Hannah HdG gave a rallying speech during our State of the Chapter presentation. Here's an excerpt:

"When I have experienced true solidarity, I’m humbled to feel connected not only to the people involved but to those from across history. From revolts of enslaved people, to striking mill workers, to labor organizations like the National Farm Workers of America. Today, I invite and challenge you to partake in that history of solidarity with me.

"This will require us to be bold, patient, vulnerable, and honest with each other. Capitalism has stolen our time, attention, and desires. It strips us of our most spirit-sustaining tools and sells them back to us as husks. It’s no shock that the work of supporting one another is hard, but it’s the most important work we do. And when I see how much we’ve grown and learned in just this short year, I think it’s possible."

Local Convention Hub

Convention Part II is coming up soon on July 25th. We have a dedicated page on our website for this year's Convention. It has all the information you need about how to vote, how to submit proposals, and what to expect. This hub will be continuously updated, so check it frequently.

Open Call for Bylaw Amendments & Political Resolutions
Finally, we are accepting proposals for bylaw amendments and political resolutions to consider and vote on during the July 25th portion of Convention. Bylaw amendments add, remove, or alter the text of our chapter's bylaws. Political resolutions are the same type of document we typically vote on during General Meetings. We will provide more information about this process in the coming weeks, but you can read about how to write a resolution here.

Amendments and resolutions must be submitted to [email protected] by members in good standing by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 12th.

If you have any questions, please email us!
