"The future of our democracy is hanging in the balance... together, we're going to return our governments to the people." -- Eric H. Holder, Jr.
Our country was founded on the idea of giving a voice to the masses. That's been an ongoing fight for generations, as many people hungry for change -- ordinary folks just like us -- have fought to expand basic rights in America.
We have a chance to continue that arc of work and bring the promise of America closer to a reality for so many. As we celebrate today, we should make sure this holiday serves as a reminder to keep fighting for a better country.
We must persist despite the barrage of attempts to undermine fair representation in our country because we know there are too many structural barriers -- including the negative consequences of voter suppression and map manipulation -- that stand in the way of progress.
From combating climate change to reimagining our criminal justice system, we can't address the issues plaguing our communities -- challenges that usually fall hardest on communities of color -- if we allow the next set of electoral maps to be gerrymandered.
AOTL is committed to fighting for a more perfect union, one where everyone's voice is heard and weighed equally. But this will take resources from supporters like you. Can we count on you to help fund our movement?

Together, we're going to return our government to the people and build a country that works for everyone -- no matter who they love, what they look like, or the zip code they live in.
Happy 4th.
Thanks for all you do,
-- Saumya
