The Left responded with a $1.5 trillion (House Appropriations Majority Committee) wish list stuffed with giveaways for illegal immigrants and able-bodied adults who refuse to work, while cutting $50 billion (House Ways & Means Majority Committee) from rural hospitals.

Here’s what’s at stake:

WHAT REPUBLICANS PASSED (THE CLEAN CR):

• Keeps the government open while full-year bills are finalized
• Protects veterans’ care, Medicare, and community health centers
• Ensures security funding for elected officials and federal workers
• Makes no changes to current health care policy

WHAT THE LEFT IS DEMANDING:

• $1.5 trillion in new partisan spending
• Restored taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants
• Expanded Obamacare subsidies first imposed under Biden’s pandemic-era mandate
• Cuts to rural hospitals and clinics serving vulnerable communities

The bottom line is simple: The Left would rather risk a shutdown than give up their radical priorities. They are holding veterans’ care, Medicare payments, and community health programs hostage in exchange for policies that put Americans last.

I came to Congress to fight for working families in North Carolina—not to bankroll open borders and reckless spending. That’s why I’ll keep standing firm against this shutdown scheme.
