We can’t let them get away with this — not again.

Justice Democrats

John,

Once again, the United States is on the verge of a federal government shutdown.

This time, it’s because Republicans want to cut Medicaid and let Affordable Care Act subsidies expire at the end of this year, which could drastically increase health care costs for the 24 million Americans who have health insurance through the ACA marketplace and kick millions more off Medicaid entirely.

Donald Trump and the GOP already made the largest cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and other federal health care programs this summer with their so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which will gut our care by more than $1 TRILLION. Now, they’re trying to throw even more working-class people under the bus again by letting these subsidies expire.

Justice Democrats’ Rep. Summer Lee put it perfectly: “Republicans would rather shut down the government than extend healthcare tax credits for working families across the country. This manufactured crisis is unnecessary and preventable.”

Instead of letting Republicans get their way and force the struggling working class to pay even more for care that already costs too much, Democrats must use what little leverage they have and refuse to accept Republicans’ disastrous agenda.

Justice Democrats are ready to hold the line, but we need Democratic leadership — including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries — to do the same.

Back in March, Sen. Schumer caved and voted for the GOP bill, giving up the little power our Party had and enabling it to pass. We can’t let that happen again.

Add your name to our urgent petition urging Schumer, Jeffries, and Democrats at large to stand strong and oppose Republicans’ harmful spending bill!

Republicans will be responsible for the millions of federal workers who won’t receive paychecks and the hundreds of thousands who could be furloughed—all because they’re desperate to take healthcare away from working families.

In solidarity,

Justice Democrats
