Dear friends and family,

On the 4th of July we celebrate a nation that was built on the principle of government that is of, by, and for the people. Today, we celebrate our country’s values of freedom and justice for all.

Yet, it feels as though we are in a constant fight to defend these principles from a president and administration that will do anything to dismantle our democracy piece by piece.

Recent information has surfaced that Russian military officials funded the killing of American troops in Afghanistan by offering bounties for the deaths of coalition troops.

Months later, there has been no response by the Trump Administration and our president still refers to Russia and Putin as “friends of the United States.”

To truly live up to our American values, we must protect those who have worn our nation's uniform in defense of our freedoms. It’s time to show that public support is not with Trump by adding your name and condemning the president’s blatant disrespect towards our troops.

For everyone hearing this, it should sound disgraceful — especially for those who have friends and family on our military frontlines fighting for American values every day.

Trump campaigns on a promise of making America great again, but his actions show that this is merely a catchphrase to him.

We are more than our president.

Today I ask that you consider all that we have done in just the past few months.

Together, we’ve already made it clear that we will put our true American values into action. We will make a more inclusive America and fight every day to create opportunities for all.
