Hello John,
The government will shut down at midnight tonight unless Congress passes a
continuing resolution with bipartisan support.
Congress faces a choice: put the interests of the American people first or
allow the government to shut down.
Government shutdowns happen when lawmakers choose political theater over
delivering the results Americans deserve.
AFP’s new polling confirms what we already know: The poll shows that 61% of
Americans

believe government shutdowns weaken our country’s ability to succeed.
🏛️ Here’s what’s going on in Congress right now:
* Congress still has time to act. By passing a continuing resolution before
midnight, lawmakers can keep the government open to give more time to address
the real issues affecting American families and communities.
* This vote needs bipartisan support. To pass a continuing resolution, at
least seven Democratic senators must vote with Republicans. So far, U.S. Sen.
John Fetterman stands alone as the only Democrat backing the CR.
* Unfortunately, partisan maneuvering has already cost us critical time. The
Senate failed to pass the House-approved clean continuing resolution.
Meanwhile, Democrats are playing politics by leveraging a shutdown to demand an
additional trillion in new spending.
The American people expect better: stop the political theater, keep the
government open, and focus on solutions that matter.
My colleague Kent Strang lays out exactly why Congress must act — and what it
will take to end this dangerous game of politics.

see why we need to push Congress to take this unnecessary shutdown off the
table.
