Hello John,
Since I sent you the email below, even more colleges and universities across the country have had to face their school year opening with violence and tragedy.
We must not give up. We can do better for our young people, and thousands of people like you and I are working to do this each day.
Please act now to help restrict guns on college campuses. [[link removed]] Wisconsin legislators have already received hundreds of messages demanding this change; let’s keep the pressure on. I know we can do this together.
With determination,
Nick

Subject: Young People Should Not Have To Fear Gun Violence
Hi John,
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that, two days ago, once again, a school and community were devastated by gun violence. While there is still much we don’t know about the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, we do know that the children and families who were impacted will carry this traumatic experience with them for the rest of their lives.
This tragedy once again underscores the desperate need to protect our young people from the everpresent threat of gun violence.
Did you know that, here in Wisconsin, our colleges and universities are only allowed to prevent guns inside buildings? This means our colleges and universities have no way to keep dangerous weapons off school grounds . It leaves students and staff feeling vulnerable instead of being able to focus on learning and building community. We hope you will join us in demanding better. [[link removed]]
This week, state legislators introduced a bill that would fix this. The bill would prohibit guns on college campuses in nearly all cases. We wanted you to be one of the first to hear about it so that you can urge your state legislators to cosponsor and support this lifesaving policy. [[link removed]]
This bill would ensure that students, faculty, and staff are able to learn, work, and thrive in an environment free from the threat of firearms.
Act Now! [[link removed]]
Legislation like this doesn’t move forward on its own—it takes advocacy, persistence, and the voices of people like you. That’s why WAVE is at the Capitol building support, and that’s why we need you to contact your legislators today in support of this bill. [[link removed]]
Your help makes this work possible. Together, we are showing policymakers that Wisconsin cares about the safety of our young people and educators.
