Hi John, Grace here – finance director for George Whitesides’ re-election campaign.

I’m sorry to reach out, but I checked our numbers over my morning cup of coffee, and we’re pacing slightly behind ahead of tonight’s deadline.

This deadline isn’t arbitrary. We’re required by the FEC to make our fundraising public, and everyone from our MAGA challenger to the media will be combing it over for any sign of weakness.

In a race as close as this one, what we raise matters even more. George flipped this seat by a slim margin in November, he’s been named to the Frontline list for the most at-risk Democratic incumbents, and we’re expecting a surge in outside GOP money and attack ads to impact this race at any moment.

Although the midterm elections are over a year away, we’re preparing the groundwork now to win re-election and give Democrats a fighting chance at winning the House majority.
