Happy 4th of July — one of my favorite holidays!

 

Trying to get into the best position to see fireworks every year has always been a tradition for my wife Kristin and me, but we know this holiday is going to look a little bit different this year.

 

It’s tough for our family to not carry out our favorite 4th of July traditions like it is for so many families across North Carolina — but this virus doesn’t care whether it's a holiday when people get together in crowds.

 

So while I want you to celebrate our country’s freedom, I want you to do it with care: no big crowds, masks, and social distancing. Being smart and taking precautions will save lives.

 

The people of this country are just as strong as they were when they started this nation almost 250 years ago and we will get through this.
