Can a Language App Boost Indigenous Language Skills? Evidence from Peru
[link removed]
In collaboration with IPA Peru and the Organization of Ibero-American States, researchers Emma Näslund-Hadley and Juan Manuel Hernandez-Agramonte conducted a randomized evaluation to measure whether a Quechua Collao language app improved students' language skills, attitudes toward Quechua, and teachers' content knowledge in rural and urban areas of southern Peru.

Developing Paths to Scale: The Graduation Approach
[link removed]
Pioneered by BRAC in 2002, the Ultra-Poor Graduation (UPG) Program offers a comprehensive package of interventions aimed at breaking the poverty cycle and fostering lasting economic independence for people living in extreme poverty, mainly women in rural areas. IPA has supported the research and development of the Graduation approach with randomized evaluations in Bangladesh

, Peru

, and many more countries. The strength of the global evidence has led to Graduation programs operating in over 50 countries to date, benefiting more than 14 million people. IPA is partnering with the governments of Nigeria, the Philippines, and Rwanda to scale this impactful approach.

Research Funding Opportunities
Soft Skills Research Fund | Curated Portfolio of Research Projects (ongoing) and Request for Proposals (upcoming)

In 2024, IPA announced new funding for research on soft skills for entrepreneurship and workforce development. Through this funding, IPA aims to support research in low- and middle-income countries that examines the relationship between soft skills and employment-related outcomes. IPA will source research projects through two key approaches: 1) an upcoming competitive open call for proposals to be launched in October 2025, with Expressions of Interest due in November and full proposals for selected applicants due in January (more details forthcoming); and 2) an ongoing curated portfolio of full-scale research projects.
