Route 1 Southbound Ramps in Brunswick Closed Overnight [ [link removed] ] 09/30/2025 02:53 PM EDT
BRUNSWICK - The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the southbound on ramp from Route 196 East (Brunswick-Topsham Bypass) and the southbound off ramp to Maine Street on September 30, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

The ramps will be closed with signs and cones, and traffic will be expected to use the next available exit.

Drivers heading south from Topsham should stay on Route 201/Main Street and re-enter using the Route 1 South on ramp off Main Street in Brunswick.

Drivers heading south on Route 1 should use the southbound off ramp from Topsham / Lewiston Route 196 and the Route 24 Exit for the Topsham Bypass. This will bring travelers back to Route 201/Main Street.

This closure is part of an ongoing highway rehabilitation project. The project area begins 0.17 miles east of Cushing Street and extends east 3.02 miles as well as 0.70 miles west of Old Bath Road and extends west 3.39 miles. The project area includes all approaches and ramps. This project consists of highway rehabilitation, pavement milling, hot mix asphalt overlay, and safety improvements.

The contractor on this project is Coastal Road Repair of Westbrook, Maine. The contract amount is $15,544,396.25.
