Happy Fourth of July, John.
Our country was founded 244 years ago on the principle that people have an inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Recent weeks have given us time to pause and really think about whether our country has stayed true to those ideals. The protestors who have taken to the streets to demand racial justice remind us how far we still have to go to reach the ideals this country was founded upon. This Fourth of July is a great time to think about how we can chart our course to a more perfect union as we celebrate our nation's birthday.
Thank you for celebrating safely at home this year and forgoing gatherings in order to protect our loved ones and neighbors from COVID-19. We will make up for it with even bigger parades and celebrations next year if we are fortunate enough to have a vaccine.
