John, I was just on CNN to discuss the potential government shutdown:

At midnight tonight, the federal government will run out of money unless Congress passes a spending bill signed by the President. Democrats have been ready to act to keep the government open and protect vital services—but Republicans with full control in Washington are taking us toward a shutdown. They’re choosing chaos over responsibility.

If you’re ready to fight back against this reckless behavior, chip in now to help me hold them accountable and keep up the pressure in Washington:

Look, no one wants a shutdown. It would hurt so many people, force troops and others to work without pay, and damage our economy.

But Republicans have full control of the government. They’re in charge and they have the responsibility to govern. If they want to foolishly shut the government down, that’s their choice.

Democrats have been laying out a clear line: we want to lower costs and protect healthcare.

People have been getting pounded because of Trump’s chaotic trade war (and that’s coming from a guy from the Rust Belt), healthcare cuts, and high costs across the board. Millions of folks across the country are about to lose care, and if not, be pounded with increased health insurance premiums.

Let me be clear: Republicans control Washington. They are failing.

So if Republicans want to tap dance out of being in charge of this government, good luck. But they’re in charge and have the power to stop this shutdown.
