I wanted to reach out quickly and say from my family to yours:
Happy Fourth of July!

While celebrations are different this year and we won't be able
to partake in the traditional picnics and parades, I hope you
have a moment to pause and celebrate our nation’s birth this
weekend.

For me, the ideals our country were founded on are more relevant
than ever.

The right of every American to equal treatment under the law, the
freedom of the press, our right to assemble and to vote, and the
fact that nobody is above the law — these are at the very heart
of what we are fighting for now.

I am especially proud to see the way people all across this
country have banded together to cry out for justice. This work
must continue.

While the COVID-19 pandemic will keep us apart this holiday
weekend, I will still celebrate the sacrifices that so many have
made, and the leadership so many are showing, to uphold these
important freedoms and make them meaningful for all Americans.

I hope you will too.
