Dear Supporter,

Right now, the price of virtually everything — including housing, groceries, health care and more — continues to go up. Despite what you may hear from the White House, inflation is not under control. It’s getting worse every day.

Yet, there are some individuals in Washington who continue to claim that Social Security is “too generous,” and benefits must be cut.

The National Committee understands firsthand the struggles that millions of older Americans endure when inflation strikes and benefit checks fail to cover essential needs. Some seniors are forced to choose between buying a bag of groceries or paying for a costly prescription medication.

That’s why the National Committee wants to know:

Do you think your Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) will be enough to cover rising costs? ( [link removed] )

As you know, Social Security benefits are hardly “lavish” (the average retiree receives roughly $1,976 per month).

Yet, instead of supporting polices that will boost benefits to adequately cover seniors’ basic needs, GOP hardliners in Congress have supported radical “reforms” and reductions to your earned benefits to pay down the national debt. In the past some have even called for cutting the annual COLA.

That’s why your voice matters!

Since 1982, the National Committee has fought to protect seniors’ earned benefits from being slashed by Congress — and right now we need your input and your voice more than ever as we work to remind our elected officials that millions of seniors rely on Social Security for most of their income in retirement. And any cut to their earned benefits would be devastating for their retirement security.

With so much at stake, please provide your candid response. ( [link removed] )

Sincerely,

Dan Adcock
