------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]

William Volk led the technology team at Activision from 1988–1994. At a challenging time in the company’s history, Volk helped Activision navigate their way through the future of digital entertainment.

Volk recently donated a backup of his business records to the Video Game History Foundation. We recovered the data, and today, we’ve opened the William Volk papers, now available for free in our digital library ([link removed]) .

The William Volk papers are filled with information about projects like Return to Zork, MechWarrior 2, and even unreleased games like River Raid: Mission of No Return. You can read through weekly updates about these games as they were developed.
A spreadsheet containing the status of various game development projects.

Dig into reports from industry events like the Consumer Electronics Show ([link removed]) , or check out Volk’s early impressions of new consoles and computer hardware, including rare technical discussion about the “Nintendo CD” ([link removed]) from 1993.

For researchers, historians, and curious fans, the Volk papers are a unique first-hand look into the early history of one of the biggest names in the industry.
