Friends,
Joining the armed services was a defining moment in my life. From enlisting in the National Guard at a young age to serving as an Army Ranger, I've seen firsthand how groups of people can overcome challenges when we work together.
So, the Fourth of July is a special holiday for me. I am proud to have fought for my country with groups of people who, despite our differences, swore to protect the values that this country was founded on: that this is a nation where everyone is created equal, everyone can achieve the American Dream, and everyone belongs.
These are the values I continue to fight for in Congress today. These past few months have made it clear that, despite the progress we've made together, we still have a long way to go to fulfill these promises. Until all are treated equally, until Black Lives Matter, until everyone can access the quality, affordable health care they need, until there's economic opportunity for all, and until our democracy works for the people -- we must keep working toward building a more perfect union.
While this weekend is a time for many to enjoy time off and relax with loved ones socially distant or online, I hope you find some time to stop and reflect on its meaning and the work ahead, too.
The pursuit of freedom is what makes our country so beautiful, and I will always be guided by the service and sacrifice of the men and women with whom I served.
As we celebrate this Fourth of July, my promise to you is simple: I will never stop fighting to make sure this is a country -- and state -- we can all be proud of.
Have a safe and fun holiday,
Jason Crow
