Trump Unveils 20-Point Plan for End to Gaza War
Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza. The plan is backed by a large number of Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Egypt, and of course Israel itself. It has a lot of moving parts, but, then again, this is the Middle East, where nothing is simple. Townhall: If the Israelis and Hamas accept this plan, the war will come to an end immediately, and aid will begin to flow in, organized by the UN. Within 72 hours of a public acceptance of the plan, all hostages will be returned to Israel, and all Israeli forces will begin their withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in accordance with President Trump’s plan. In exchange, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1700 Gazans who were detained after October 7th, 2023. And “For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.” Furthermore, members of Hamas who commit to laying down their arms and live in peace with Israel will be granted amnesty. ( Townhall) POLITICO: Hamas has not yet agreed. And despite Trump’s assertions that “eternal peace” could be at hand, he and Netanyahu both demanded Hamas effectively surrender or face destruction, with the Israeli leader vowing that his military would “finish the job” if they turn the deal down. “This could be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way,” Netanyahu said. “But it will be done.” The proposal calls for Hamas to disarm, return all the hostages within 72 hours and relinquish control of power, according to an outline of the plan released by the White House. ( POLITICO) Daybreak begs your forgiveness for our doubts that Hamas will accept this plan, and that it will be carried off without a hitch.

Too Funny to Ignore
While this story isn’t quite the bottom story of the day, Daybreak admits that it really doesn’t qualify as “news.” Although, come to think about it, we get it via MSNBC, which purports to be a “news” outlet. So perhaps we can be forgiven for giving in to our sense of humor… Rosie O’Donnell discussed her Trump Derangement Syndrome with Nicole Wallace of MSNBC, admitting that even her therapist is flummoxed by her persistent rage. Daily Caller via X: NEW: Rosie O’Donnell tells MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace *EVEN HER THERAPIST* questioned why her Trump Derangement Syndrome is so out of control “If he’s not stopped now, we have lost our country.” “And I don’t know, Nicolle, how it is that some people cannot see it. My therapist said, ‘Why are you so upset?’ And I said to her, ‘Why are you not!?'” ( X) Daybreak is unsurprised that O’Donnell is turning to MSNBC for counseling services; the hosts there are likely more her speed than even the most liberal mental health professional.

Charlie Kirk’s Assassin Appeared in Court as Liberals Still Attack Kirk
Tyler Robinson, Charlie Kirk’s assassin, faced another court hearing Monday in which a number of pre-trial issues were addressed. Lawyers for both the defense and the prosecution agreed that it would take some time to sift through the evidence before trial, given its “voluminous” nature, which highlights that even in cases that seem open and shut, the wheels of justice move slowly. Robinson’s court hearing comes amid a renewed effort by liberal commentators, with two opinion pieces in the Sunday New York Times slamming Kirk as hateful. Daybreak featured Nicole Hannah Jones’ piece yesterday, but failed to mention that Ta-Nehisi Coates was given a platform to smear Kirk in a podcast with Ezra Klein. Here’s a sample: Ta-Nehisi Coates: So the idea that this guy should be in any way celebrated for how he conducted politics — the fact that he just slurred, across the board, all sorts of groups of people and then ran an organization which appeared, to me, to be just a haven of hatred… ( New York Times) Daybreak, being more forgiving than others, does not endorse the sentiment that some have, that no matter how much you hate the media, it isn’t enough. That would be uncharitable.

Study Shows AI Can Predict Ideology from Facial Expressions, and It Turns Out That Liberals Look Sour and Conservatives Look Happy
By now, we have all seen the studies that show that conservatives are happier than liberals, and that the happiest people are religious married couples with children. But a new study shows that artificial intelligence can look at photographs of people and predict their ideology. Even if liberals don’t have blue hair and nose rings, AI can detect facial expressions that indicate ideology. Liberals tend to have neutral or somber expressions, while conservatives tend to appear happier and are, on average, better-looking. Nature: Most clearly we see that both male and female right-wing composites appeared happier than their left-wing counterparts. The male composites were not obviously differentiated based on masculinity. The right-wing faces, particularly for females, might be perceived as more attractive. ( Nature) Daybreak would be interested to see how much more accurate AI would be if weight, facial piercings, and vibrant hair colors were added to the model.

Democrat Shutdown Strategy Amounts to Hostage Taking
Budget showdowns in Washington are as common as flies buzzing around at a dump, but this time the Democrats are banking on a strategy of slowing Trump’s momentum by causing as much pain as possible to Americans. On Monday, the president met with top Democrats, who refused to pass a clean continuing resolution. They insist on extending health care subsidies to illegal immigrants. ABC News: “[If] the government shuts down, it’s because Republicans have decided to shut the government down and hurt the American people,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said. The high-stakes meeting with Trump was a last-ditch effort for both sides to come together to negotiate. Without a deal, there appears to be a greater chance of a government shutdown starting early Wednesday morning. Hours before the meeting, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that there’s “nothing to negotiate” with bipartisan congressional leadership Monday — as the administration continues to push lawmakers to pass a short-term funding bill known as a clean clean [sic] continuing resolution. ( ABC News) Vice President Vance predicts a shutdown. Daybreak notes that the Democratic Party messaging centers around all the pain that Americans will face if Trump does not give them what they demand. In other words, they are holding the country hostage.

Gun-Toting Des Moines Illegal Alien School Superintendent Was Registered to Vote
The Ian Roberts story keeps getting better and better. Roberts, the illegal immigrant Des Moines school superintendent who likes to carry large amounts of cash and multiple weapons while fleeing ICE, also turns out to be registered to vote in Maryland. Beege Welborn at Hot Air: But then came ‘that thing’ -THAT THING that we’re told never, EVER happens. Mahatma Roberts, a kind, hard-working school superintendent who spouts beautiful sayings that should be immortalized on wall plaques and break room coffee mugs, was an illegal Guyanese visa overstay with weapons charges and a long-term permanent deportation order who was also registered to vote in Maryland. ( Hot Air) Daybreak wonders how an illegal immigrant with no work authorization managed not only to pass a background check to work as the top official in a school district, but also how he got a Social Security card, an ID, and a voter registration. Radical empathy works magic.

Democrats Back to Calling ICE ‘Gestapo’
Well, that didn’t take long. Democrats have decided that the number of bodies left in the wake of their irresponsible rhetoric against law enforcement is a price worth paying as long as they can knock Donald Trump’s poll numbers down a point or two. Congressman Seth Moulton, who clearly has presidential aspirations, took to CNN to criticize “masked people running around like the Gestapo.” He was not referring to the Democrats’ favorite domestic terrorists, Antifa, but ICE. 100,000 Federal Workers Will, Reportedly, Resign on Tuesday
It’s not what the media wants you to think, but it makes a great talking point. In the midst of yet another government shutdown fight, media outlets and Democrat influencers are selling the idea that 100,000 federal workers will resign in protest over Trump’s evil budget. WION: From Tuesday (Sep 30) some 100,000 federal workers are set to exit in what is being called the largest mass resignation in American government history. By the end of the year, this number is projected to reach 300,000, making it the most significant single-year reduction in the civilian federal workforce since World War II. By comparison, around 100,000 civilian jobs were cut between 1945 and 1946. During the 1990s, the Clinton administration’s “reinventing government” initiative eliminated some 250,000 positions, but that process took five years. The current wave of exits is occurring within just one calendar year under the direction of President Donald Trump. A potential government shutdown looms on 30 September. Agencies have been ordered to prepare for additional layoffs, particularly targeting non-essential roles. ( WION via MSN) Daybreak notes that the “resignations” are not news at all because this is just the formal end date of Trump’s buyout from earlier this year. Nobody is resigning because of a potential shutdown as far as Daybreak is aware, but we can hope.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Announces That Digital ID Will Be Required to Get or Keep a Job
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that if UK residents want to work, or, for that matter, participate in much of the UK economy, they will soon be required to obtain a digital ID. Surprisingly, many people think that his excuse for this is bogus. Starmer, you see, insists that he is so committed to stopping illegal migration that he will implement a system that threatens to empower a near-totalitarian power to the government. BBC: The digital IDs will be used to prove a person’s right to live and work in the UK. They will take the form of an app-based system, stored on smartphones in a similar way to the NHS App or digital bank cards. Information on the holders’ residency status, name, date of birth, nationality and a photo will be included. Announcing the scheme, Sir Keir said: “You will not be able to work in the United Kingdom if you do not have digital ID. It’s as simple as that.” The government says the scheme is designed to curb illegal immigration by making it harder for people without status to find jobs. Ministers argue this is one of the key pull factors for migrants entering the UK illegally. Employers will no longer be able to rely on a National Insurance number – which is currently used as part of proof of right to work – or paper-based checks. ( BBC) Daybreak concedes that digital IDs may enhance efficiency, but wonders, perhaps out of a spirit of cynicism, “efficiency for what, exactly?”

Meeting Between Trump, Hegseth, and Flag Officers at Quantico Sparks Wild Speculations
Washington is abuzz with speculation about the upcoming meeting between Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and every flag officer in the military that will take place at Quantico. Now that President Trump has announced he will attend, the interest has turned up to 11 on a 10-point scale. Axios: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s summoning of senior military leaders to Virginia for a Tuesday meeting bewildered military and congressional officials. Then, President Trump added to the mystery by announcing he’d also attend the hush-hush event. The big picture: The gathering at Quantico, a Marine Corps base, has little precedent — and the president’s appearance adds heightened security questions to the already massive event that will bring together the nation’s top generals from across the globe. Driving the news: Trump billed the event as a “very nice meeting talking about how well we’re doing militarily” in a phone call with NBC News, confirming that he planned to join the hundreds of military leaders. The Defense Department and White House have secure ways to communicate across countries and time zones, Axios’ Colin Demarest reports, and it’s unorthodox to have leaders simultaneously depart their stations. ( Axios) Daybreak notes that Axios’ report underplays how nervous the establishment in Washington (and elsewhere) is regarding this meeting. The sheer quantity of power, money, and influence that is represented by US flag officers and their allies control is unprecedented in human history. Only a US president has more power, and he may be upending the current order. Everybody in the know will be watching today’s meeting.
