As-Salāmu 'Alaykum John,

I, along with everyone at Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA), am
anxious to get back into my masjid. I miss seeing all the beautiful,
shining faces of my community and the warm embrace of my brothers; I
miss visiting with each other to hear each other's news in person; most
of all, I miss coming together with my fellow Muslims to pray to Allāh
(SWT) together; I even miss people talking over the announcements after
prayer. I miss it all.

We took so much for granted, and we have a newfound appreciation for all
we had.

One thing we find ourselves taking for granted is our constitutional
rights. Time and time again, I hear from Muslims in our community, "we
live under the rule of law," that "if we don't do anything wrong, we
have nothing to hide from law enforcement agents." MLFA's entire
clientele are law-abiding American Muslims who did nothing wrong or out
of the ordinary, but federal agencies suspected them and put unjust
obstacles in front of them simply because of their Islāmic identity.

The need for MLFA's work has not stopped, and, alhamdu liLlāh, support
from the community continues!

Malcolm X - may Allāh have mercy on him - said, "The future belongs to
those who plan for it today." We need to plan for the next step. MLFA
has set its sights for when the masjids open up again, in shā' Allāh.
We're not sure when that will be, but when they do, we need your help to
engage the community!

MLFA wants to engage people who dream of a free America where Muslims
feel comfortable at home, at school, and at the workplace.

Whether you're a recent retiree, a college student, an empty-nester, a
stay-at-home parent, or working, join the Hands of Liberty and become
part of the Network for Justice ! (This kind of
community activism will look great on a resume!)

Hands of Liberty associates are volunteer community organizers that will
create awareness of MLFA at their local masjid. Among other things,
associates will:

* Establish a working relationship with the local masjid governing
board.

* Promote MLFA services, news, events, and programs; 

* Distribute and hand out MLFA material; 

* And keep MLFA updated on Masjid demographics, programs, and services.
