Dear Friends of 5 Gyres,

Today, I am thrilled to share an invitation with you to join us for 5 Gyres’ 15 year anniversary celebration ([link removed]) on November 15th!

This is a milestone for our organization, and we wanted to raise a glass with friends, colleagues, and supporters. I do acknowledge that it's a ticketed event, so I completely understand if spending on a charity event is not in the cards right now!

The event will be held at a beautiful home in Culver City. In addition to food by Chef Morgan Mead ([link removed]) , drinks and mingling, we’ll have programming with entertainment and reflection on our last 15 years of science and advocacy, while looking at the next phase of our work.

We feel proud of the achievements we’ve made in elevating both the science and the advocacy to protect people and planet from the dangers of plastic pollution. And yet the barriers facing progress remain considerable. If there's one thing we've learned over the years, it's that local level, grassroots involvement really can make a difference.

For entertainment, we will have a few incredible alumni from Crossroads School - Ben Lear ([link removed]) (son of the late Norman Lear) performing a piece from his folk/rock opera Lilian and Nokuthula Ngwenyama ([link removed]) , a world class violist and composer playing an original composition that I adore. And perhaps some other surprises. 😊
