John,
Independence Day is a day to reflect on our shared values.
We’ve made immense progress in Michigan, but we still have work to do. No one is free until we all are equal, and we must continue to fight for equality for all citizens.
We must celebrate our freedoms and our voice by using it to speak out against injustice.
Together we can take the future of America into our own hands, and move towards equity, so that we may one day celebrate liberty and justice for all.
For now, I hope you all have a happy and safe Independence Day, and although it will certainly look different than in years past, I hope you all can still celebrate with your family and loved ones safely and responsibly.
Happy Fourth of July!
