Tell me this, folks: how does defunding California’s counterterrorism efforts make our people safer?
Easy answer… it doesn’t! But Trump is trying to do just that, continuing his pattern as one of the most anti-public safety, anti-law enforcement administrations in the history of this country.
I won’t stand by while the President tries to bully California into doing his bidding, so I just filed my 40th lawsuit against this administration — seeking an emergency court order to prevent the diversion of this critical Homeland Security funding.
I’m asking you to join me in this fight. Will you contribute today to make sure we can keep fighting for safety for all and defending our rights?
Trump has been targeting California since the day he was inaugurated, trying to claw back federal funding and interfere with our decision to use law enforcement resources to protect public safety instead of participating in their anti-immigrant campaign.
The funding in question right now involves hundreds of millions of dollars nationwide from FEMA’s Homeland Security Grant Program — it helps California prevent, prepare for, and protect against acts of terrorism and other catastrophes. Last week, we secured a major win when the court blocked Trump’s unlawful efforts to make this funding conditional — now we’re working to stop him from diverting it away from our state with zero justification.
Unlike this President, I will always step up and defend California’s public safety.
Please — pitch in whatever you can today to help us keep the fight against this administration’s dangerous and reckless moves to attack our public safety.
