All I have ever wanted to do is serve this country that we love so much, and I am so grateful to have been able to - first through military service and now as our community’s representative in Congress. I am so proud of our amazing nation under our beautiful 50 stars and 13 red and white stripes.
As we join the millions of Americans celebrating our freedom today, let’s first all remember that freedom isn’t free. It is paid for by the blood and sweat of those in our nation’s Armed Forces - those who fought to gain our freedoms throughout history, and those who fight to defend it today.
We also need to fight back against this backwards notion in some parts of our country that being an American is something to be ashamed of. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am proud to be an American, today and every day!
