# [#]John – Trump and the GOP can pretend all they want, but we see right through their BS. They’d gladly sell out American families and consumers time and time again if it means lining the pockets of their billionaire polluter buddies and propping up Big Oil.
This is going to be a long email, but it’s important that you know all about the crusade against clean energy. In recent months, the MAGA machine has: * Pushed a sweeping rollback of environmental protections in Alaska and the High Arctic, in an attempt to reopen protected waters and lands to fossil fuel development
* Threatened to pursue new oil and gas lease sales on Florida’s Gulf Coast, another long-protected region
* Rammed Trump’s Big Ugly Bill through Congress – a historically anti-environmental tax scheme that steals from working families and cuts thousands of clean energy and manufacturing jobs, all to bankroll billionaire tax breaks and handouts to fossil fuel CEOs
* Canceled over $600 million in federal funding for offshore wind projects, and added unnecessary hurdles for new renewable energy projects
That’s just scratching the surface, John.
Trump and the GOP have shown a clear, stubborn hatred of clean energy. Frankly, it’s ridiculous. They’ll bend over backwards and contradict themselves in order to deliberately sabotage clean energy projects and protect polluting industries.
They talk a big game about “small government,” but pile on the bureaucracy and red tape when clean energy threatens fossil fuel profits. They promise to lower costs for everyday families, but eliminate the jobs and gut an entire sector that can bring affordable, reliable power to consumers and households everywhere.
The Trump Administration would rather poison our air, torch our climate, and surrender clean energy leadership than admit that wind, solar, and batteries work. It’s reckless and un-American, and the damage will be felt for generations.
Trump and the Republican Majority can try to stall our clean energy future all they want, but my fellow Democrats and I will never stop fighting for cleaner air, lower bills, and a green economy that works for everyone.
But, John, it is also absolutely critical that we ramp up our work outside of Congress right away. The fight to kick Republicans out of the House majority won’t be easy, but with early, consistent grassroots support we can make it happen.
