A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
Unless Republicans and President Donald Trump act, the federal government will shut down at midnight tomorrow. We are on the brink of a federal government shutdown as Rhode Islanders struggle to afford health care. House Democrats are in Washington, ready to keep the government open.
|
In advance of a possible federal government shutdown, you're invited to a Telephone Town Hall I'm hosting tomorrow, September 30, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, to learn more about how I'm fighting back.

We'll discuss how Republicans' policies are failing to extend tax credits that help more than 22 million hard-working Americans afford health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Under Republicans' partisan proposal, more than 40,000 Rhode Islanders could see their health care costs increase by 85% or more starting next year. Working families in Rhode Island cannot afford their monthly insurance payments to go up by more than $1,000 a month!
|
|
But this attack on health care is not new; it's just the latest in a series of Republican policies attacking Americans' health care. Earlier this year, Republicans passed their Big, Ugly Law, which will rip health care coverage away from over 15 million people and cut $1 trillion from our health care system.

|
I've heard from Rhode Islanders across the First Congressional District about just how devastating these attacks on health care are. HealthSource Rhode Island Director Lindsay Lang shared with me the impacts of Republicans' partisan funding bill. She told me, "We're going to see people lose their health insurance" if Republicans' partisan funding bill is signed into law. |

HealthSource Rhode Island's Lindsay Lang details the potential harms of Republicans' funding bill.

Please RSVP on our website to receive a phone call to join the town hall when it starts. I look forward to answering your questions and discussing how I'm working to cancel the cuts, lower costs, and save our health care. |
|
I look forward to speaking with you. |

Sincerely, |

Should Republicans in Congress work with Democrats to lower Americans' health care costs? |
