| Democrats Fight to Save Affordable Health Care Tax Credits | I am urging my Republican colleagues to protect the Affordable Care Act’s tax credits. The impending expiration of these tax credits is the latest blow in the health care crisis Republicans have created. In July, Trump and Republicans passed the Big, Ugly Bill, which cuts Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) taking health care away from millions of Americans. Meanwhile, billionaire donors are reaping massive tax breaks while adding $4 trillion to America’s national debt. Read more here. | Federal Agencies Switching to Electronic Payments | Starting September 30, 2025, federal agencies will stop issuing paper checks to cut costs and reduce delays, following Trump’s Executive Order on Modernizing Payments. Most Americans already receive benefits electronically and need to take no action. Those still getting paper checks for Social Security, Veterans benefits, or other programs must switch to electronic payments by: - Enrolling in direct deposit through their agency, at GoDirect.gov, or by calling the Electronic Payment Solution Center
- Signing up for a Direct Express Debit Mastercard, a Treasury-sponsored card for receiving benefits electronically
