Among other challenges, Georgia has some of the most stringent ID requirements in the country – rules that disproportionately impact Black voters. An estimated 25% of eligible Black voters lack a current government-issued photo ID. That’s 585,000 Georgia citizens who are at immediate risk of being disenfranchised! VoteRiders is leading the launch of this “Souls To The Polls” program in partnership with a coalition of Atlanta churches. With your assistance, we will train clergy, lay leaders and church-based volunteer teams to register voters, verify that they have voter ID, and make sure they are prepared to vote. For years, VoteRiders has helped to organize the Milwaukee Souls To The Polls coalition, which has been incredibly effective in mobilizing Black voters – and making sure they have the ID they need to vote. We are excited to bring this proven model to Atlanta. But we need your help to immediately launch this program! Celebrate America's birthday with a gift that will help protect the right to vote in Georgia. KB Visions has pledged to match every dollar we raise. Double the impact of your gift by pitching in today! With our gratitude and appreciation, Marquese Averett Georgia Voter ID Coalition Coordinator |
