With these words, America's ruling class put pen to paper and declared rebellion against their king, launching the American Revolution. And 239 years later, too many of us are still fighting for those unalienable rights. As Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ rights organizers continue marching for equality long denied, they do so in the spirit of America's first revolution.
Today we celebrate the overthrow of tyranny in all its forms and we honor those who continue fighting until law and society recognize the dignity and deserved equality of all people.
One way to push progress forward? We must pass the Equality Act. Stand with every single LGBTQ member of Congress and our LGBTQ Senators and demand the U.S. Senate vote on this essential bill.
