John -
This Fourth of July, our democracy has rarely been in a more perilous place.
We have a president who has doubled down on corruption, cronyism and attacks on watchdogs after being impeached. We have an attorney general who has shown his willingness to abuse his power to benefit the president personally and politically and to be complicit in the president’s racist agenda.
But while there’s a lot to fight against, there’s also at least one thing to celebrate: we’re not giving up the fight for our democracy—and we know you’re not either.
If you’re able, join us in defending our democracy this Independence Day and have your gift matched by a generous donor.
Over the last few months, Attorney General Bill Barr has continued his pattern of intervening in cases involving the president’s friends and allies, President Trump has doubled down on attacking watchdogs by sidelining and firing inspectors general, and Jared Kushner’s secretive coronavirus task force has likely violated recordkeeping and conflict of interest laws.
At CREW, we’ve fought back. More than 50,000 of you have called for Barr’s impeachment, and subsequently, several key House members have announced their support for his impeachment. We’ve filed complaints about Kushner’s task force and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s apparent obstruction of investigations into his misconduct by requesting the firing of State Inspector General Steve Linick. We’ve sounded the alarm about Trump’s attacks on watchdogs and obtained documents showing alarm at the EPA and Department of Transportation about those same attacks.
And those are just a few of the ways we’ve fought back, and will continue to fight back. If you’re able, please consider making a matched donation to help us continue the fight for the future of our democracy. Help us reach our $80,000 July match challenge by donating now.
Thank you for all your support,
Noah Bookbinder
