Hi, Porcupine

Happy Independence Day! Certainly, this is one of my favorite holidays of the year - and not just for the festivities!

In addition to the food and the fireworks, I enjoy pausing and genuinely pondering the events surrounding the American Revolution.

Admittedly, the older I get, the more seriously I reflect on that immensely pivotal moment in history.

Can you imagine being alive during those years? If you were a colonist in 1776, what would you have done? Support the British Empire, join the American Revolution, or just be apathetic or neutral?

Or, perhaps an even more intriguing question, if you were a member of the British military in 1776, what would you have done? Become a turncoat and join the revolution, find a way to escape your duties, or obey the orders you were given and kill the insurgents?

To be sure, only a small minority of colonists were actual rebels. Very few of them paid for the rebellion with their fortunes and 25,000+ revolutionaries paid the ultimate price - death.

Between then and now, a great many number of pro-liberty events have happened in the United States. Yet, as you and I know all too well, a great many anti-liberty events, too.

All of this brings us to today, the 4th of July, 2020 - Independence Day.

So, today I ask you: Are you willing to lift up our peaceful, second American Revolution in New Hampshire?

Will you invest in liberty? Will you exert the fullest practical effort toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of government is the protection of individuals’ rights to life, liberty, and property?

In the end, to create a better world for yourself and the future of the human race, what are you willing to do?

These are the sorts of questions I'd like you to ponder with me today - the anniversary of the first American Revolution. I sincerely hope your Independence Day weekend is filled with liberty and peace... and maybe some great food, drinks, and festivities, too!

Vince Perfetto

Free Staters have hearts of gold!

So far

Up to now, 2020 has been a great year for the Free State Project. Over the final six months of this year, we intend to keep our momentum going. Later this year, we plan to start new programs that will help bring more libertarian activists to New Hampshire.

But if we can't raise the necessary funds, those new programs won't take off.

For nearly 19 years, the Free State Project has contributed so much to the broader liberty community. Now, we're reaching out and asking for your support today.

  • If you're already one of our many monthly donors, thank you very much for staying with us! If you can raise your monthly commitment just a bit more, we would greatly appreciate it.
  • If you're not already one of our monthly donors, could you start a monthly contribution? Whether you can chip in with a smaller, $5-$10/month schedule or be one of the esteemed few at the $50-$100/month level, that steady monthly support makes it easier to budget and plan for success.
  • Then there are the rest of you. The big players. You know who you are. If you could mail us a surprise 4 or 5 figure check, your generosity would help bring dozens or even hundreds of new libertarian activists to New Hampshire. What an impact your contribution could make!

PS: We also accept five cryptocurrencies. If you don't see your preferred crypto, reply to this email and we'll get it sorted!
