At least one person is dead and several others are hurt after a violent crash in Boyle Heights. Police said three women were ejected after riding in the bed of a truck. Another passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck reportedly crashed into a vehicle parked on the street and flipped on its side after the impact. "They were driving incredibly recklessly. It was very unsafe," said witness Jessica Solorio. "It looked like they were on something." "They were like giggling, like having fun. To be honest, they looked kind of drunk, intoxicated," said witness Adriana Elicea. Video from the aftermath of the crash shows the victims' clothing and shoes littered on the road. Singer D4vd broke lease and moved out of Hollywood Hills home searched in 15-year-old girl’s death
Singer D4vd broke his lease to a multimillion-dollar home in the Hollywood Hills and moved out just days after police searched the property in connection to the death of a 15-year-old girl, the owner confirmed to The Times. Police found the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez on Sept. 8, a day after her birthday, in the trunk of a Tesla that was spotted parked near the rental home. The car, registered to the singer, was impounded before the grisly discovery was made. It’s unclear how long she had been inside the trunk of the car. Her body was described by authorities as being decomposed, suggesting she had been dead for a while. On Sept. 17, detectives served a search warrant at the home in the upscale neighborhood on Doheny Drive, where law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case said several electronic items, including computers, were seized. A cause of death has not been released by the L.A. County medical examiner, and her death is being investigated by the robbery-homicide detectives of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Los Angeles law enforcement increases security around churches after deadly shooting in Michigan
Los Angeles-area law enforcement agencies on Sunday said that they would be increasing patrols around religious buildings after a deadly mass shooting at a Latter-day Saints church in Michigan. The decision came shortly after a gunman drove into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township in Michigan, during a service, police said. They say that the man opened fire inside the church and then set the building ablaze before he died in a shootout with Michigan-area law enforcement. "The reports of a mass shooting and fire during Sunday services at an LDS church in Michigan are devastating," said a statement from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass that was shared on X. "This type of violence is reprehensible and should have no place in out country. My heart is with the families impacted and the entire Grand Blanc community." She said that LAPD officers would be increasing their patrols at all local places of worship on Sunday. A statement from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials echoed Bass' message.

Kansas officer shot, killed by domestic violence suspect
A Hays Police officer was shot and killed on Sept. 28 while responding to a domestic violence incident, KWCH reported. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is leading the investigation into the fatal shooting, according to the report. Around 1:55 a.m. on Sept. 28, officers from Hays Police and the Kansas Highway Patrol set up a perimeter around the suspect’s home. Gunman opens fire, sets fire to Michigan church, killing at least 4
A gunman opened fire inside a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Michigan during a Sunday service before apparently setting the building ablaze, killing at least four people and injuring eight others before police shot him, authorities said. Hundreds of people were inside the church in Grand Blanc Township when a man rammed a pickup truck through the front door, then got out of the vehicle and started shooting, Police Chief William Renye told reporters. Investigators believe he “deliberately” set the building on fire, Renye said. After the suspect left the church, two officers pursued him and “engaged in gunfire,” Renye said. The man was killed. Flames and smoke could be seen pouring from the church for hours before the blaze was put out. First responders were then sifting through the wreckage. A four-door pickup with two American flags displayed in the truck bed remained on the scene. Renye identified the suspect as Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, from neighboring Burton. Reyne did not specify a motive at a news conference on Sunday evening.
