Today we celebrate the independence of this nation from a tyrannical
and oppressive ruler and the declaration of American ideals that have
guided our struggles for justice from then until now.

TODAY SERVES AS A REMINDER THAT WE MUST FIGHT FOR CHANGE WHEN WE SEE
INJUSTICE. The Patriots’ cause was not popular for a long time; they
were seen as radicals and agitators, as many people see our movement
today.

We did not achieve the ideals expressed in our founding documents on
July 4, 1776. Nor have we yet achieved them. But we must keep trying.

IT IS OUR FREEDOM AND OUR DUTY TO VOTE. We must honor those who have
fought so hard for that freedom by using it to make good in this
world.

While you celebrate America today, remember to SEND IN YOUR BALLOTS OR
GO VOTE ON JULY 7 IN THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY. Please vote for me, and
for the entire "Not Me. Us." slate of candidates.
