The Public Safety Minister has been caught on tape admitting what Canadians already know: the Liberals’ gun buyback is a waste of time and money.

From the recording:

• He admitted the Liberals will waste $742 million on this out-of-touch gun grab.

• He confessed, “I’m not an expert on this.”

• He told Canadians, “Don’t ask me to explain the logic to you on this.”

Even the Prime Minister has admitted “the vast majority of firearms, illegal firearms, firearms used in crime come across our border,” yet the Liberals are pressing ahead with a confiscation program that targets legal, trained, tested, and licensed Canadian firearms owners.

Meanwhile, violent crime is up 55%, gun crime 130%, and extortion 330%. Instead of fixing border gaps and going after criminals, Prime Minister Carney’s government is wasting hundreds of millions on political theatre.

Conservatives will continue to push back.

In Question Period, I challenged the Liberals on their latest attempt to cook the books by splitting the budget into “operating” and “capital.”

As Canada’s top budget watchdog has said, “the labour market sucks, wages are not going up.” Debt is debt — no matter how the Liberals try to spin it.

I reminded the Prime Minister that all of this comes from the same bank account and there is only one taxpayer. With the deficit set to double, Canadians deserve honesty, not accounting tricks.
