John, I know you may be skeptical about a pathway to overcome the Citizens United decision — but our plan was named one of the "clearest routes" to doing so of the last 14 years.
It's supported by leaders in both the Democratic and Republican parties, as well as by legal scholars, who we worked with closely to devise this strategy.
The Citizens United decision closed the door on using campaign finance reform to limit corporate influence in our politics. That’s why, instead, we’re using two centuries of Supreme Court precedent on corporate law to revoke corporations' political spending powers as non-human entities.
Here's what it boils down to: corporations are not people. And we can pass a ballot initiative that will enshrine that fact in our state's constitution.
This is our shot to make Citizens United irrelevant.
I know you probably get a lot of emails asking for money. I get them too, so I know how you feel. That's why I want to make sure we tell you exactly what we're doing and where your donations go.
No catchy slogans. No fearmongering. Just our approach to problem-solving. It's the least we can do when we ask you to chip in.
We need the help of every person we can reach who wants to save democracy from the growing threat of oligarchy. Please, read more and start a monthly contribution today:
Thank you for stepping up to support our mission of freeing our elections from undue corporate influence,
