Dear John:

Thank you to the over 11,000 people who joined my telephone town hall! We discussed the latest on government funding, what I did during the August District work period, the Administration's crime crackdown, and so much more. If you would like to be on the next call, please reach out to my team and we'll add you to our list.

The FAR Act

The Fraud Accountability and Recovery (FAR) Act that I am co-sponsoring with Rep. Finstad addresses the need for additional tools to recover funds by ensuring U.S. foreign assistance is not provided to countries that shelter individuals convicted of defrauding the American people.

Right here in Minnesota, the Feeding Our Future program carried out the largest COVID-19 pandemic fraud scheme in the U.S. - over $250 million that was meant to feed hungry children during the pandemic was stolen.

The Department of Justice has since charged 75 defendants, securing multiple convictions for fraud, bribery, money laundering, and related crimes. At least one defendant transferred stolen funds and property abroad, beyond the reach of U.S. authorities, before attempting to flee. These government funds are coming out of the pockets of Minnesota taxpayers.

This bill will help prevent other countries from allowing entry to those who have stolen from America and will work towards forcing other countries to extradite said criminals and cooperate with the U.S. government. We want to discourage fraud and increase the government's ability to hold lawbreakers accountable. The FAR Act will keep the taxpayers' dollars in Minnesota, where they belong.

Thanks for visiting with me!

Thank you to the MN Farm Bureau for stopping by my office while you were in D.C and for taking the time to discuss Farm Bill provisions with me. While we were able to include several provisions that were initially in the Farm Bill in the One Big Beautiful Bill, we will continue to hear from farmers about what other needs they have that may go into the next Farm Bill text.

MN Head Start met with me, and we discussed the program's impact on Minnesota's families and children, the opportunities it offers, and its future.

Growth Energy visited with me about the importance of having year-round access to E15 and also the implementation of the 45Z clean fuel production credit. I have co-sponsored the “Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act” in the 118th Congress and this Congress. This legislation would provide the statutory authority to provide E-15 year-round, nullify the proposed “Request from States for Removal of Gasoline Volatility Wavier”, and provide one-time, retroactive relief to a limited set of small refiners.
